This activity provides pupils’ with the opportunity to find their own seeds in their food and in their outdoor environment. This will help to develop their understanding of where plants come from. Pupils will learn to plant, take care of and observe plants growing from seeds. It will also develop their understanding of what plants need to live and grow well.

Topics covered include observing how seeds grow into mature plants, finding out what conditions seeds need to grow well offering cross-curricular links with numeracy and literacy. Jack and The Beanstalk is a story which could provide a useful link.
