Create a plant

This activity from Primary Booklet 1: Parts of a Plant and their Functions, provides an opportunity for the children to show that they can identify and describe the basic structure of a flowering plant by creating a plant using carefully chosen materials to represent each part. The children will create an image of a plant by selecting appropriate items from a box of resources to represent each part of the plant. This could include the use of ‘junk’ material for modelling.

This is a creative activity with cross-curricular links to DT and could be used at the start or end of a unit to assess their knowledge of the parts of a plant.
